IDN has two client groups to service: LEGACY ENTERPRISEIDN services a number of large enterprise organizations that originally purchased the ARCHIBUS/FM facility management solution and then
added a 3rd party product named "FMstudio" the predecessor to iDN
as their web "Front End"
ARCHIBUS offers a web component called "Web Central" which some consider complex and expensive to purchase, install and maintain - it
is also difficult to modify without an advanced skill set or professional consultant.
Infrastructure.Net has a number of Legacy Enterprise Clients:
- Washington State Dept of Transportation - 1700 buildings
- Collier County Government - 683 buildings
- Florida Institute of Technology - 200 + buildings
- Lee County Electric Coop - large Florida Head office
- Sacred Heart University - Boston Area campus
Each of these large clients have a variety of things in common:
- Microsoft SQL Server Database Engine
- Migrated to a Virtual Machine (VM) environment
- Supported fully by the IDN technical staff via a VPN connection
- Server is on premise and under the control of the IT department
- Server is available for maintenance and updates
- System has considerable customization to address:
- unique processes
- reporting
- user interface requirements
Therefore each instance is somewhat unique, each site has a different set of application modules, however all are primarily focused on the iDN Work Management activities.
Each client pays an annual maintenance subscription fee to IDN to provide software updates and fixes as required.
Additionally each client usually purchases a "Time Block" to address support and custom development projects.
All clients are seeing a trend towards mobile devices including the Apple iPad and the corresponding need to allow access to data and drawings via the internet - now being called "A Private Cloud"
IDN offers each client the option to consider moving to a "Managed Service" offering by moving their Virtual Machine to an external host and have IDN play a more active role in the overall management of the system. This migration may not ever be possible for some organizations because of security concerns.
